TOPIC: HEARING FROM GOD
Heb. 1:1-2, Is. 30:21
For us as Children of God to be effective in our Christian service and decision making we must hear from God clearly.
VARIOUS WAYS OF HEARING FROM GOD
A. THE WAYS OF SPIRITUAL PERCEPTION
These are the commonest and important ways God speaks to His children Prov. 20:27, Acts. 27:9-10.
1. UNDERSTANDING: It is the opening of the heart
Eph.1:17-19
2. BURDEN: This is a weight in the spirit demanding action about a person or situation Hab.1:1-2, Neh1:3-6
3. CONSCIENCE: Is the inbuilt policeman which states whether an act or intention is right or wrong Rom.2:14-16
4. INWARD WITNESS: This is the queen of perceptions. It produces peace of heart Rom.8:16
5. Others that shd be noted are: Impression, Revelation flash.

B. THE WAY OF THE WORD
The word of God as stated in the Holy Bible is our final authority on issues of conduct and faith. Any revelation that contradicts the principles of the Bible is not of God.
1. INTERPRETATION & APPLICATION: This is the meaning & the relevance of a passage of the scripture to you at a given time 2Chron34:14-21
2. JUMP WORDS: A passage or part of the scripture could take a peculiar hold on you in the sense that it remains on your heart, mind & feelings.
3. REFERENCE PASSAGE: In a confusing, situation where you need a quick vital direction or decision making, you could be referred to a passage in the Bible through a dream, vision, voice, help bibles or a spirit led counselor.
C. THE WAY OF A RENEWED MIND
1. SANCTIFIED IMAGINATION: Especially in management of decisions, a mature servant of God can predict a likely result from the trend of events; when he has his mind especially subject to Holy Ghost Rom.12:2
2. SPIRITUAL REASONABLENESS: When a child of God exposes his heart and mind to the thoughts of God. He could easily detect issues that make spiritual sense Heb.5:14.
D. THE WAY OF VOICES
1. INNER VOICE: A voice perceived in the heart with every word stated remembered. Acts 8:29 could have been by this method.
2. SMALL STILL/HEAD PHONE VOICE: The voice and the words seem to stand out your ears 1Kgs 19:12
3. OUTER OR AUDIBLE VOICE: Acts 9:4-7, Matt.3:7, Rev.1:10
E. THE WAY OF VISIONS
They are like watching a video or television programme with or without the voice.
1.OPEN VISION: Acts12:7-10
2. SPIRITUAL VISION: It is like T.V programme or picture. It is seen whether your physical eyes are opened or closed Is.6:1, Amos 8:1,
3. TRANCE VISION : Acts 11:4-7
4. DREAMS: Gen.37:5-7, Matt.2:11-13
F.) THE WAY OF THE GIFTS OF THE SPIRIT
While the ways of perceptions seem to be rooted in the heart of the servant of God, those gifts of the Holy Spirit operate more by inspiration 1Cor.12:1-2
In conclusion, identify the ways you can hear from God and fan them to flame through consistent study of the scripture, persistent prayer and fasting, living a holy and obedient life in the sight of God.
